Whatever Next?????
Well, technical problems over, thought I had better touch base with the blog and bring myself up-to-date!
It hasn't been an easy couple of weeks - back to work for a start after two glorious weeks of sunshine and heat. My bloody office was 26.5 degrees last Monday! Now that wasn't the best start and I had a service manangers visit too! Lots of crap over the Easter Holidays and it all hit the fan when school started and we've been clearing up the pieces ever since.
The ongoing saga of my poor dad continues! He was supposed to be getting out of hospital 2 weeks ago but there was a further complication and he was straight back to the ward. He had an infection and was sent to the high dependency unit AGAIN and now ... after being in hospital for 9 weeks he has MRSA and is back in isolation! One good thing that has come of all this ..... my dad's side of the family have started talking again. There was a rift in the family and some of his sisters and brothers stopped talking to each other some time ago. This, and the sad death of his younger sister seem to have the 'clan' chatting again!
It hasn't been all gloom and doom though ....
I was visiting my Godson .. he is 7 years old now and a gorgeous, kind, loving wee star! I met him and his mum when I was doing a bit of shopping and he asked when I was coming to visit - we arranged a time and he had apparently been bugging his mum, "How many sleeps?" for the full week till I arrived hahaha I love that!! I only have 6 more sleeps till the next weekend :o) LMAO
I was invited to my previous school to see their musical performance of The Pied Piper of Hamlyn. For a group of primary school kids, their performance was excellent and very professional! The main cast members and singers kept the packed audience enthralled, I was sitting, foot tapping to the music and huge smile on my face at their performance - A huge pat on the back for them and the teachers involved. I was so proud of all the kids and still miss them all. It has almost been a year since I moved to my new post in another local authroity but you can't work in a school for nine years and not become attached to the pupils, teachers, staff and families - it was GREAT to meet them all again.
Right I am waffling a load of guff now and this has turned out to be a bit of a boring post so I shall stop! I may be back later today with more rantings of looney as I am supposed to be painting and decorating downstairs but really can't be bothered with it now that I have started!

Blades of Glory
I went to the Cinema yesterday, with a friend, to pass a boring Saturday afternoon. Blades of Glory was the film of the day for us and off we trotted to Screen 5 to watch, arms laden with popcorn, pepsi, hotdogs, pic-n-mix and a box of 'Krax' (gorgeous corn snack type thingys).
Chazz Michael Michaels (Will Ferrel) takes to the rink as the rock star of the arena, leaving a trail of thrashed ice and shrieking female fans in his wake. The only competitor who can match Michaels' scores is the driven former child prodigy, Jimmy MacElroy(Jon Heder).
These two tie for the gold medal in the Olympics and as they are sworn enemies one ends up shoving the other off the podium and they end up in a bit of a fight on the ice. After being banned for life they go their separate ways but long to be on the ice competing again.
They get it together as a pairs team (no rules against single sexed pairs) and fight for supremacy on the ice again.
These two had to get together to make a great pairing and tackle the World Championships and take Gold. The story is crazy, weird, ridiculous but side splittingly funny. I laughed all the way through the movie.
Well worth it if you want a good belly chuckle without having to use your brain for plot etc!! :o)
A Little Tipple ??
Those who know me will be aware of the fact that I am partial to a little of "Mother Russia" - VODKA
I don't really care in what way it comes, although I am liking the Smirnoff Vodka Norsk at the moment, with a little ice and lemonade .. lovely and refreshing!! ... Blue label, Red label, Black label .... I don't really care that much :o)

A bit of 'wind'
I had a fantastic few days away to end the Easter school holidays and ... back to work tomorrow! Ah well ... only 10 weeks to the next holidays I suppose :o) LOL
I have been catching up with the local 'rag' (newspaper) and I now see that the gorgeous views around the Ochil Hills, which I sit right at the foot of, are to be changed forever with these great brutes ....
Thirteen of these turbines are to adorn the beautiful landscape, each standing over 100 metres tall. I am all for finding renewable energy sources to save the environment - BUT - not ruin it with these great eyesores.
I suppose I really have mixed views - Oh My God ...... am I turning into one of those NIMBY characters (Not In My Back Yard)??? I do think that in the right situation these turbines are kind of magestic and awe inspiring. Whilst on holiday in Egypt, there was a field full of turbines, the difference being, it was in the middle of the desert where no one lived and where only passing tourists in their coaches could see.
I never thought I would be such a "grumpy git" when it came to this village I live in .. maybe I like it more than I let on. But to spoil the beauty of the landscape which is used by so many tourists to this county - and there ain't that many reasons the tourists would come to this area, believe me! - is lunacy .... in my humble opinion anyways.

The Ghetto
I feel the need to RANT about the state of this village that I live in - Tillicoultry!
As you can see ... I do live in one of the most beautiful areas ... right at the foot of the Ochil Hills - the views from where I am sitting and typing this are amazing! BUT why oh why do the little drunken neds have to spoil the area and ruin and vandalise property??
We have a problem here .. and probably have had for a wee while I suppose. I moved here 9 years ago from quaint Crieff and knew there would be a cultural change (hahaha ... snob in me speaking now) because my car insurance shot through the roof when I told them of my change of address! Now if that wasn't a warning of what was to come ... I dunno what was.
Over the past 2 or 3 years this place has gone to the dogs and is commonly known amongst my friends and select neighbours as "the ghetto".
Gang fights, drugs dealers, murders, gangs of neds causing fear and terror amongst the elderly community - all this in a village of about 5000!!! .... something needs to be done! I seem to be right in the middle of all this "fun". A neighbour was chatting the other day and we both mentioned selling up and moving - but who in their right mind is gonna want to buy property in an area like this? If I sell it with the views above .. it would be snapped up ... but as soon as they visit .. OMG ... that's a different story.
Last week 3 little chavvy neds (about 17yo, 15yo and 13yo repectively) started to taunt and annoy a visitor (about 17yo) to his grandparents. The scrawny neds had a couple of chavettes with them ... OMG .. what a state!
Anyway ... the three set upon this one lad. His grandad came out and chased two of them off whilst the other one, chibbed on by his chavette entourage, kept taunting the lad. He took a pot shot but the grandson got the better of him and he soon realised that without his mates he was nothing and (I am against all forms of violence) he was pounded into the ground. His mates came running back with a length of pipe and a block of wood ... but they were chased off again and the chavettes were horrified that their idol was beaten and walked off laughing .... oh how fickle!
I later heard that the three had set upon the grandad later the same day. He has bruised ribs and broken teeth ... this fecking annoys the feck outta me! This report is from the next village to me. These little sh*ts are running around, drinking and getting high on whatever is in fashion at the moment, and fu*k all is really being done about it! It's okay for Mr Policeman to ask what are the parents doing about it ..... what is he doing about it?? Why were these little reprobates not frog marched back to their parents, in their drunken and abusive state ?? Because the majority of these parents would have told the officers where to go! If I had dared to come home drunk at 12 yrs old .... I wouldn't have been able to sit for a week .. never mind do anything else. I don't advocate physical violence at all BUT ... some parents need to take control and responsibility for their kids!
I don't know what is going to happen to this gorgeous Hillfoots village ... but I really don't intend staying around much longer to find out!

Our Road Trip
Well, yesterday was a laugh and a half - I met up with two friends (to make up "The Three Amigos") and we had decided to take an Easter tirp to Landmark ... no not the furniture place ...... HUH!!
Well I set off at the ungodly hour of 8am ... OMG .. and on a Sunday too ... I never usually surface before mid-day FFS and headed to Crieff "The Holiday Town" ha effin ha to meet with me mates.
8.59am and we set off. Stopped and had brekkie at the House of Bruar - because by 10am I was effing starved but at £3.50 for a bacon roll .... my imagnation had to take control and turn that buttie into an imaginary full English fry-up!!! Ah well .. never mind.
Off we set again and we came across the Highland Wildlife Centre ... so we popped in .. I say popped in ... but at £10 a head I was expecting a lot!!! (am I reinforcing the Scots are a tight bunch of gits stereotype?? haha)
I knew from the first 20 minutes that I was gonna be a disappionted lad .... I think most of the animals were on an Easter break. I did however manage to see some red deer, buffalo, wolves, reindeer, wild boar and mountain goats but by the time we were finished ... and frozen solid in the windchill factor of about -50 (slight exaggeration) lunch was on our mind and we set off again for our destination.I don't know when it happened ..... but we decided to head for Inverness instead - why, you may ask ..... I have no idea ... the sign said Inverness so we headed in that direction! As you may have guessed ... a day out with us is like a day out with The Clampetts!! PMSL
I said I wanted to go to Loch Ness ..... and that was the next stop on this magical mystery tour - I wondered if Nessie was gonna make a star appearance .. but NO ... like the animals in the Wildlife Centre .. she too was a bit shy and probably underwater eating her Easter eggs. The view was amazing though ....After that we drove down the edge of Loch Ness all the way to Fort William. We stopped there for the necessary "pee break" .. well after a 100 mile trip down Loch Ness .. it was needed!! I aint the type of lad to pull up in a layby, unzip and let flow ... I need my comforts ;-)
It was getting on now ... must have been about 4pm when we set off again and for some bizarre reason .... Tam (the driver for this road trip) headed for Oban!!! Now I am not saying that he likes to drive fast .... but we "landed" in Oban a wee while later and sought out a restaurant that wasn't fully booked with the Easter Sunday brigade. (oh how unplanned were we ffs) We did manage to find a nice eatery and sat down to a nice meal.
After filling up with our fuel ... the car needed the same and off we trotted to the garage. The nice chap behind the counter gave me another good Scottish word to use ..... HEE HAW!! We were about to buy a newspaper and he replied "I wouldn't bother ... there's 'hee haw' in it today!" That was the word for the rest of the trip home!! Here is Vicki leaning out of the car, travelling rather fast shouting "hee haw" and me leaning further out of the back window taking her piccy .... NUTTERS!!!Anyways ... this is beginning to ramble ... so I'll bring it to a close .... I got back home at after 9pm having travelled about 400 miles all around the north of Scotland .. but having had a great laugh!! Tam and Vicki .. thank you for cheering me up BIG TIME!!

Catch-Up
Well this Easter Holidays lark is playing havoc with my body clock! I am used to getting up at 6.00am and heading to work at 7.30am , but these long lies in my bed and switching on the television to morning and daytime tv crap are beginning to do my head in - and I never thought I would be saying that!!!!!
I am a bit of a work-a-holic ... okay .. I am a complete work-a-holic and if I am not leaving the country for a holiday ... they tend to drag on a bit and I get bored. It's not as if I couldn't be busy ... the hall needs decorating as does the main bedroom and the lounge and the bathroom floor needs re-grouting ... can I be arsed??? erm NO.
Today I am going to get myself off up the road to the salon where I can get my hair cut and be pampered with a head massage and get up to the hospital to visit my dad.
Yes ... he is still in hospital. The poor guy was supposed to be getting out at the end of last week ... but hey .. you guessed .. with all of his luck there was a complication and he's still there! One foot out of the bed in the ward and thoughts of home ..... then DISASTER and his wound starts leaking some really foul substance! I won't go into to too many details .. I am nearly barfing myself just thinking about it. Needless to say .. more hospital and more time bored out of his mind. He was able to tell me how many tiles were on the roof ffs .... not that I was gonna dispute the number and count them myself - I'll let him win that one :o)
I was told to get some photographs in here by a mate and .... well ... I might do so if I am feeling brave! I have only just passed this blog site to one or two 'trusted' peeps .. I am a shy chappy and I am careful about who I want finding out more about me .. hahaha .... says me with a blog on the web PMSL.
I must get rid of my car and get a new one. I keep stalling and hoping it will just happen for me .. but I don't think the "new car fairy" is gonna visit me soon ..... sh*t ... I need to get a grip and get rid ... It's only a fecking car FFS.
Right .. enough for now ...... I need to be fed and watered and head to the salon for some tlc :o) It is the time of month that I secretly love and dread .... I love the pampering .... glass of wine when I arrive and well looked after .. but dread because working in a school ... there are lots of heads with little creepy crawly visitors and I am petrified I get them and they are discovered whilst I am sitting in the hairdressers chair hahahaha ...thankfully in the ten years of working in school ... I have NEVER had the nits :o) here's a little piccy .... I bet your head starts to itch ... mine has :o) hahaha

It is with a tinge of sadness that I am having to say a sad farewell to ..... MY CAR!!! How sad is that!
I have started looking at a couple of cars that I really like to replace my pride and joy ...
I love my car and really don't want to get rid of it but needs must and a couple of really quite large service bills will be heading my way if we don't part company.
There must be something about lads and their cars. Mine is well looked after, washed and polished weekly (almost) hoovered and generally loved - is it any wonder I am leading a single life at the moment :o) ... no comments necessary thanks!!!
The problem I now have is that I cannot make up my mind between 2 BMW's that I have taken a fancy to, Ford Focus sport, Honda Civic Sport or Golf. Hmmmmm I like a car with looks and one that is gonna go when my foot so much as looks at the accelerator pedal ... I wonder if that is how I like my women ..... good looks, nice curves and a go'er!! pmsl ... those in the know may disagree!!!
Well it looks like a few trips to Glasgow and Stirling are in order to seek out the perfect replacement .... I'll keep you informed :o)

'NUMPTY'
Scotland's favourite word is "numpty" and I love it! There are many expressive Scottish words in use and with the right dialect, volume and tone ..... these sound fantastic.
Children's charity "I Can" did an online survey to find the favourite words from all over the UK. Everyone paid £1 to enter their favourite onto a word wall and the results were collated. If you want to read more ..... the BBC news page has the info.
This has got my brain a ticking and I have come up with this list of MY favourite 10 scottish words ......

April Fools
Searching for some of the funny and ingenious April Fools day pranks .....
Internet Spring Cleaning
In 1997 an email message spread throughout the world announcing that the internet would be shut down for cleaning for twenty-four hours from March 31 until April 2. This cleaning was said to be necessary to clear out the "electronic flotsam and jetsam" that had accumulated in the network. Dead email and inactive ftp, www, and gopher sites would be purged. The cleaning would be done by "five very powerful Japanese-built multi-lingual Internet-crawling robots (Toshiba ML-2274) situated around the world." During this period, users were warned to disconnect all devices from the internet. The message supposedly originated from the "Interconnected Network Maintenance Staff, Main Branch, Massachusetts Institute of Technology." This joke was an updated version of an old joke that used to be told about the phone system. For many years, gullible phone customers had been warned that the phone systems would be cleaned on April Fool's Day. They were cautioned to place plastic bags over the ends of the phone to catch the dust that might be blown out of the phone lines during this period.

In 2000 the British Daily Mail announced that Esporta Health Clubs had launched a new line of socks designed to help people lose weight. Dubbed "FatSox," these revolutionary socks could actually suck body fat out of sweating feet. The invention promised to "banish fat for ever." The socks employed a patented nylon polymer called FloraAstraTetrazine that had been "previously only applied in the nutrition industry." The American inventor of this polymer was Professor Frank Ellis Elgood. The socks supposedly worked in the following way: as a person's body heat rose and their blood vessels dilated, the socks drew "excess lipid from the body through the sweat." After having sweated out the fat, the wearer could then simply remove the socks and wash them, and the fat, away.
They worked for her ..... :o)

In 1994 Itar-Tass reported that an alcoholic beverage company had invented a new kind of candy sure to be a favorite with the Russian people: chewy Vodka Bars. These bars, designed to compete with Mars and Snickers bars, would come in three flavors—lemon, coconut, and salted cucumber. The same company was also said to be perfecting another new product: instant vodka in tea bags.
Oh how my life would be complete ..... oops .. I am now sounding like a complete jakey!! For those non-scots .. here is a jakey ....

IS THERE ANYBODY THERE.......???????
NO .. not me asking if anyone is reading this ... but tackling my thoughts about the after-life. Most Haunted got me hooked on spirits and ghosts and got me thinking ... what does happen after this life?
If you have watched Most Haunted you would have to agree that it does question your beliefs - do ghosts really exist? My opinion was NO - until I got hooked and fascinated by the medium on the programme, Derek Acorah. I love the work of this guy and he has changed my whole perception on "passing over to the other side".
I jumped at the chance of buying tickets to see another of the "Three Mediums" Colin Fry at the Edinburgh Playhouse. I was expecting a few people there but the whole of the theatre was packed .. a sell out performance. By the end I was converted ... I do believe there is life after death - I am NOT religious at all but the arguments and evidence that I have seen has convinced me.
I became a bit of a ghost freak and started watching Colin, Derek and the third medium Tony Stockwell on television and went to another sellout performance in Edinburgh with Colin and Derek.
You arrive hoping and wishing to have someone from your past come through to speak to you. By the start of the performance I was desperate for them NOT to come through as it would be bloody embarrassing to have a chat about some personal stuff infront of a few hundred strangers ... but by the end of the show I was again desperate for a chat with someone ..... maybe next time :o)
The Most Haunted team have me rivited to my sofa waiting to see what is going to happen next and what information the shows spirit medium is going to find out next. Even if you are not a believer ... this show is great entertainment and certainly keeps my gob shut for an hour - not something easily done. I do have to keep checking behind me just incase there is a strange shadow or orb of light .... and anyone walking past my front door creating a shadow in the hall has freaked me out a few times .. nearly spilling my wine ffs (now that would be a tragedy).
Edinburgh ghost walk and dungeons is the next stop ...... wwwwwwooooooooooooo
